Heads up, park cruisers. The police department may soon be operating unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) “as a law enforcement tool” in New York City, giving that agency the capability to monitor activities in city parks, on streets, and in other public areas from the air.

The on-again, off-again federal court injunction against enforcement of the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (DADT) policy may be headed into its final round given President Barack Obama’s commitment at a White House LGBT Pride reception last month that the certification required to implement last year’s repeal legislation would be made “in a matter of weeks, not months.”
