LezVolley is an annual all-women’s volleyball tournament in Cherry Grove, Fire Island. Started in 2011 with eight teams, the tournament has pumped up to 25 teams, with a crowd that now reaches more than 500 people. The majority of attendees and visitors belong to the LGBTQ community and the weekend has become the most popular annual LBGTQ event for women on Fire Island. LezVolley has teamed up with the Gotham Volleyball League, the largest gay sports organization in New York City founded in 1981, which professionally officiate all the tournaments. LezVolley has an official afterparty at Cherry’s On The Bay. The party starts right after the game and goes on all night long with DJ’s, a full bar, and a food menu. The LezVolley weekend includes a Friday night opening party, the tournament on Saturday followed by an afterparty, and a Sunday brunch and tea dance.
