GMHC Honors Corey Johnson, Joan Tisch, Phill Wilson
Council Speaker Corey Johnson was awarded the Larry Kramer Activism Award.
At a gala dinner with 400 guests at the Plaza Hotel on October 9, Gay Men’s Health Crisis raised more than $600,000 to support its programs and client services. The evening’s honorees included long-time trustee Joan H. Tisch (in memoriam), City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, Phill Wilson, the president of the Black AIDS Institute, and Pride Media, publisher of OUT and The Advocate, and its CEO Nathan Coyle.
Broadway star Javier Muñoz (“Hamilton”) presented Speaker Johnson with his award.
Larry Mass, a co-founder of GMHC, who in early 1981 wrote the first news stories about AIDS in the New York Native.
Broadway star Billy Porter (“Kinky Boot”) gave the award to Pride Media.
Actor Julianne Moore offered a tribute to the Time’s Up Movement.
Michael Douglas presented Jonathan Tisch with a community service award in memory of his late mother, Joan H. Tisch Award.
