Gay City News is broadening its online reach, bringing on a digital reporter and editor to stay ahead of the 24-hour news cycle.
The newspaper, in its 17th year of publication, is a premier source of news, arts coverage, and daily events of interest to the nation’s largest and most diverse LGBTQ community.
We are also a leading voice in national and international news affecting LGBTQ people around the globe.
We have now undertaken a recruiting effort for a digital reporter and editor who will report breaking news, work with the editor-in-chief to support editing, strategize on the best positioning of stories on our website, and oversee Gay City News’ social media channels and e-newsletter products.
Gay City News is part of Schneps Community News Group, which is the largest publisher of local news throughout New York City and Long Island.
The ideal candidate will have strong social media and writing skills, have a passion for and understanding of the LGBTQ community and the critical issues affecting it, understand what makes a great story and show discerning judgment about credible sourcing, be proficient in WordPress and able to multitask on deadline, and be a self-starter confident in making appropriate time-sensitive decisions.
The company’s benefits include 401K and health.
If you are interested and qualified, please email your resume, four samples of your reporting, and a note explaining your interest and qualifications to editor@gay
