Gay City News this week recognized Amida Care, a private nonprofit community health plan, with an Ad POP (Pride in Online and Print) Award for that organization’s partnership in supporting LGBTQ media here in New York.
The awards are bestowed by the 12 member newspapers of the National LGBT Media Association (NGMA) to honor the best representations of LGBTQ advertising in online and print campaigns placed with regional community newspapers. NGMA represents 12 legacy brand names in LGBTQ media, including Gay City News. Rivendell Media, the oldest and most experienced expert in LGBTQ media, helped coordinate national entries across local media.
“NGMA represents a collective of top publishers in top US markets and is a terrific vehicle for national advertisers to reach the LGBT marketplace,” said Todd Evans, president of Rivendell. “Gay media is local media. It provides the best on-the-ground information to serve the diverse LGBT community.”
Amida Care specializes in providing comprehensive health coverage and coordinated care to Medicaid members with chronic conditions, including HIV/ AIDS and behavioral health disorders, those who are homeless, and people of transgender experience. The community health plan currently serve more than 7,000 members throughout the five boroughs.
Amida Care’s mission makes the organization a critical source for Gay City News reporting on health interventions not only regarding the HIV epidemic but also in the push to improve healthcare accessibility for transgender New Yorkers.
In addition to Amida Care’s advertising support for Gay City News, the community health plan has also been a leading partner with the newspaper in a variety of its community initiatives, including its annual Impact Awards, which recognize excellence in service to LGBTQ New Yorkers.
