Gay Men’s Health Crisis held its annual gala on October 2 at Cipriani Wall Street, an event at which Governor Andrew Cuomo was honored with the Larry Kramer Activist Award.

Other honorees included attorney Roberta Kaplan and MSNBC anchor Joy Reid. Kaplan, the board chair at GMHC, is probably best known for her representation of the late Edie Windsor, arguing Windsor’s case before the US Supreme Court, which resulted in the demise of the Defense of Marriage Act in 2013. Kaplan is a founder of Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP.

The evening’s emcee was comedian Judy Gold.
